In Loving Memory of Hillary Bauer

The brightest lights never fade

This planter is dedicated to the life of Hillary Bauer, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor who will forever be part of this community. A true Virginia Highland native, it feels only right that Hillary both began and ended her journey here.

She loved sitting on the front lawn with neighbors, visiting local shops, and walking her beloved dog, Sadie. This neighborhood was part of who she was, and now, she will always be a part of it.

Hillary’s time here was far too short, but she filled it to the brim with love. She devoted her life to advocating for others. First as a child life specialist, helping children and their families navigate the uncertainty of illness, and later as an advocate for herself through her own health journey with chronic and autoimmune diseases. Along the way, she used her experience to support and guide others.

Despite the challenges she faced each day, Hillary continued to find and choose joy. Her spirit never wavered, and she never stopped fighting. Even in her hardest times, she led with compassion and empathy, always making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. She had a true gift for connection and was always there to lift others up.

Some people bring such a bright light into the world that even after they are gone, it never fades. Hillary was that light. Everyone who knew her is better for it.

In her memory, we honor her by living fully, loving deeply, and celebrating the small moments that matter most. Hillary found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—like flowers. May these flowers spread love and joy to all who pass by.
