Virginia-Highland

Classic charm, modern-day buzz

Virginia-Highland is the heart of the district and the corner where it all started. Historic charm blends with new energy at this crossroad of North Highland and Virginia Ave, with a constant buzz of shoppers, diners, and neighbors. Brick storefronts, branded light poles, warm white tree lighting, and lively sidewalks create the quintessential Virginia Highland experience.

The intersection is a destination for discovering something new. Virginia Highland Books is a neighborhood favorite, inviting visitors to slow down among colorful shelves and cozy reading nooks. A few doors down, Dakota J's has spent nearly 30 years dressing up the neighborhood, and Moosh offers a thoughtfully curated collection of women's and children's clothing. For handcrafted jewelry, Mickey Lynn creates timeless pieces using responsibly sourced natural gemstones. Nearby, Urban Cottage fills its charming storefront with home décor, furniture, candles, and gifts, while Highland Woodworking has served makers and craftspeople with tools and supplies for decades. And although the district is famous for being walkable, Atlanta Pro Bikes keeps locals exploring on two wheels with bike sales, repairs, and community rides.

Morning starts strong here, whether it's a legendary breakfast sandwich from Kinship, a Good Times Latte from PERC, or a bagel and brew from Press & Grind. As the day unfolds, the dining options are just as varied. Grab the Tuesday dozen-oyster special at Fontaine's, grilled skewers at Yakitori Kona, Atlanta's coldest beer alongside a mouthwatering burger at George's, or go for a slice at Pieland's. Neighborhood institutions like Murphy's, La Tavola, and Highland Tap have earned loyal followings over the years, while newer additions including La Moon and Bar.bacoa continue to bring fresh flavors and new energy to the district.

Even after dinner, the intersection stays lively. Patrons 21 and up can settle into a booth at the iconic Moe's & Joe's, famously the world's #1 seller of PBR, or end the evening on a sweeter note with gourmet ice cream from Morelli's and authentic Italian gelato from Paolo's.

Beyond the restaurants and retailers, essential spots help round out the corner. Urban Evolution Salon keeps our hair looking its best, Mojo Ortho will soon bring boutique smile care to the corner, Chevron Food Mart is always there for a quick stop, Church of Our Saviour has anchored the community for 100 years, and the YWCA of Greater Atlanta provides early childhood education from infancy through pre-K.

Historic yet always evolving, the Virginia-Highland block captures the energy that has made the district a beloved Atlanta destination for generations.
