Imagine a North Highland Ave that makes you want to walk, shop, and linger. Longer. 

The Vision

The North Highland Beautification Project scopes an encompassing vision to enhance the commercial corridor from Morningside Village to Historic Atkins Park. In the commercial nodes on North Highland Ave, you will see:

  • Warm white tree lighting year-round ✔️ 
  • In-ground landscapes along the corridor ✔️ 
  • Branded light pole banners ✔️ 
  • Self-watering hanging baskets and planters 
  • Protected and landscaped tree beds
  • Updated trash cans, recycling receptacles, and dog waste stations  
  • District benches
Phase 1

What We’ve Accomplished So Far

In 2024, We raised $90,000 for Phase 1—thanks to you! 

And we got right to work:

  • Installed warm white tree lighting from Morningside Village to Historic Atkins Park, including Virginia Row (Ash Coffee corner)
  • Placed large self-watering planters around Virginia-Highland intersection
  • Repainted light poles and added beautifully branded double-sided banners
  • Refreshed landscaping in the VaHi triangle and Farm Burger courtyard
  • Launched weekly maintenance and trash pickup to keep all of these improvements looking great
